Community Action, Inc. Names INDIANA County Senior Corps-RSVP June Volunteer of the Month

Community Action, Inc. announced Barbara Weyand of New Florence was selected to be the Indiana County Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteer of the Month for June. Barb has been a member of the Senior Corps-RSVP since August 2011. However Barb has been volunteering at Indiana County Community Action Program’s (ICCAP) United Food Pantry for 26 years where she serves as treasurer and helps sort, package and distribute donated food items. Barb is also a former Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. When asked why she volunteers, Barb stated, "After my husband passed away I needed a way to keep busy. I recall my very first volunteer assignment. I was asked to pick up a load of food from the Pittsburgh Food Bank, that was 26 years ago! I have been volunteering here ever since. I enjoy volunteering; it feels good to be able to help in the community and those in need.” When Barb is not volunteering, she enjoys reading, doing crossword puzzles, taking care of her two Pomeranians, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Clyde. Community Action, Inc.'s Senior Corps-RSVP is very proud to have Barb as a member.
