Community Action, Inc. announced Betty Kotula of Punxsutawney was selected to be the Jefferson County Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteer of the Month for June. Betty has been a member of the Senior Corps-RSVP since April 2003 volunteering for Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging's Pine Street Senior Center Home Delivered Meal Program where she assists with organizing meals for delivery to homebound individuals. Betty also volunteers for the American Red Cross Blood Mobiles at SSCD Church assisting with the canteen. When asked why she volunteers, Betty stated, "I enjoy volunteering, I like the people I meet and volunteering keeps me active.” When Betty is not volunteering, she enjoys traveling, doing puzzles, quilting, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends. She is a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, Big Run Volunteer Fireman’s Auxiliary, and St. Adrian’s Roman Catholic Church.
