Community Action, Inc. Names JEFFERSON County Senior Corps-RSVP August Volunteer of the Month

Community Action, Inc. announced Dorothy Reed of Brockport was selected to be the Jefferson County Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteer of the Month for August. Dorothy has been a member of the Senior Corps-RSVP since May 2008 volunteering for Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging's Brockwayville Depot Senior Center. Dorothy assists with the weekly breakfast program, serving meals, helping in the kitchen and cleaning up. She also volunteers at the St. Vincent DePaul Thrift Shop in Brockway. When asked why she volunteers, Dorothy stated, "I was employed by Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging as the Depot Center Director for many years. Volunteering gives me the opportunity to keep connected with the community and the people. It keeps me active and I enjoy helping those in need.” When Dorothy is not volunteering, she enjoys knitting, hunting, gardening, yard work, and spending time with family and friends. She attends the Brockport United Methodist Church and is a member of the Brockway Red Hat Society. Community Action, Inc.'s Senior Corps-RSVP is very proud to have Dorothy as a member.
