Community Action, Inc. announced Elaine Fisher of St. Petersburg was selected to be the Clarion County Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteer of the Month for May.
Elaine has been a member of the Senior Corps-RSVP since September 2004 volunteering for Clarion Area Agency on Aging's St. Petersburg Senior Social Center. Her duties include helping with participant registration, preparing and serving food and cleaning up after a day of activities. She also volunteers at the St. Petersburg United Methodist Church fundraising dinners and for Senior Corps-RSVP's Warm Hearts, Warm Hands Project delivering mittens and reading to Head Start children.
When asked why she volunteers, Elaine stated, "I started volunteering at the Center when it first opened, even though I was underage to participate, I still volunteered and have been volunteering here ever since. I enjoy volunteering, it keeps me active. I enjoy the people I meet and helping those in need.”
When Elaine is not volunteering she enjoys spending time with her family. She is a member of the St. Petersburg United Methodist Women and Foxy Flames Red Hat Society.
Community Action, Inc.'s Senior Corps-RSVP is very proud to have Elaine as a member. She depicts the true spirit of volunteering and is dedicated to making a difference in people's lives.
