Community Action, Inc. Names JEFFERSON County<br/>Senior Corps-RSVP March Volunteer of the Month

Community Action, Inc. announced Charlie Hoeh of Punxsutawney was selected to be the Jefferson County Senior Corps-RSVP Volunteer of the Month for March. Charlie has been a member of the Senior Corps-RSVP since August 2002 and volunteers for many organizations including Jefferson County Area Agency on Aging's Pine Street Senior Center where he also serves on their Advisory Council and REACT where he assists with local traffic control and helps conduct holiday weekend road side Safety Wake Breaks. Charlie is also the volunteer Emergency Management Coordinator for Punxsutawney and is an official Rain Gauge Watcher for the National Weather Service which involves taking daily reading of rain, snow, wind, and high and low temperatures for Jefferson County. Charlie is also a volunteer fireman for the Elk Run Station and serves as the Safety Officer for the Punxsutawney Fire Department. In addition, Charlie enjoys walking the streets and parks of Punxsutawney picking up litter. When asked why he volunteers Charlie stated, "I get great satisfaction from being able to reach out and help people. If someone needs a hand, I am there to do it. Volunteering makes a real difference in the community. I believe people should volunteer to help their community where they live. Volunteering helps save money in the community for important services that are needed. When Charlie is not volunteering, he enjoys hunting, astronomy and spending time with his wife, Carole. He also serves as a Deacon in the Punxsutawney Restoration Branch Church. Community Action, Inc.'s Senior Corps-RSVP is very proud to have Charlie as a member.
